I posted previously, but some revisions have happened from all the input I got. Also added labels to the diagrams, made the parts list a bit cleaner, and tried to organize this better. Found those water tests too. Anyway, posting here to hopefully get some input/advice/reasons why I'm stupid. Just a couple notes about my mindset: This a definitely overkill for what I need, but I'm okay with that. This has become a bit of a hobby project by now. Total price is about $7,000 (breakdown is on the p...
**O.** The house had brackets on the archway that led to the front door. It was clear that the last family who had owned the house that they were of Greek origin. You know the sort, those plastic brackets that spread out in various patterns. They were signature decorations of every Greek family and Melbourne had its fair share of Greek families. Apart from Greece itself, Melbourne was populated with more Greek families than anywhere else in the world. The archway led up to the front door and in...
1949 brick ranch. Full unfinished basement. The basement features a cinder block walled shower stall and toilet (3/4 bath? haha). The toilet flushes fine and I have no reason to believe that the main drain has any flow issues (no problems with backup from either of the 1st floor drain stacks) but the basement shower drains at a rate of approximately 1/2 gallon per hour. We do know that the previous owners lived primarily in the basement but are unsure if the basement shower was the primary s...

Hi Plumbers of reddit, I need your help!. I will try and be as detailed as possible and hopefully not lose you with too many words. House: made in 1975, suspect all PVC plumbing but not 100% sure. on septic. Diagram not to scale but gives the general idea here : http://i.imgur.com/0BKW8dF.png Blue is for wet areas, green is what I believe to be the main drain of the house, purple is for a laundry drain to a separate gray water disposal that we wont discuss.. the rest is a bit long...
Hello Reddit, My wife and I are planning to remodel an upstairs bathroom, probably mostly by ourselves, and we'd like a sanity check on the plan before we get too far along. Background: A rough diagram is shown at [https://imgur.com/a/1EfZnpn](https://imgur.com/a/1EfZnpn). This is a master bathroom. The sink area adjoins the bedroom without a door, and there is a door to the toilet+shower area. The shower is a single preformed plastic unit, about 60"x32", and since the house has settled or ...

Hi all, I am seeking out advice on how to properly install drainage and venting for a full bathroom in my basement. I have dug up the old plumbing, as you will see in the photos below. Previously there was a washing machine drain, which i am removing as it is no longer required (green lines in photos). My plan is to rip all this out and start fresh. There is a vent rough-in in the ceiling, above the shower approximately. I will be adding a wall along the green tape line as can be seen in ...
So here is the third chapter in my Bendy write up. For those who want to know, I decided to create a write up of the chapters of Bendy and the Ink Machine as if it were a novelisation from Henry's perspective. I've posted the previous two already and intend to add links to the previous posts at the end of this one. I'm not much of a writer and I don't expect this to be the best piece of literature ever but its something I have enjoyed. Feel free to give opinions in the comments and only construc...
### [It only took me two weeks to change the flapper valve on our loo and this is how I did it](http://d6equj5-deardennis.blogspot.com/2011/01/it-only-took-me-two-weeks-to-change.html) “Lover?” the gorgeous brunette whispered in my ear “If I sit the kids in front of the telly and come back to bed for a while, do you promise to eat this hot, buttered, bacon sandwich?” It was of course a dream, and one from which I really didn’t want to surface. Muffled voices from down stairs, “The loo wo...
I'm looking at an [American Standard Portsmouth 7420.8xx faucet](https://www.americanstandard-us.com/bathroom/bathroom-sink-faucets/portsmouth-2-handle-8-inch-widespread-high-arc-bathroom-faucet-with-lever-handles-20347) with lever handles. Parts diagram [here](https://www.americanstandard-us.com/-/media/sites/asus/files/parts/bulk/repairparts7420801.pdf?la=en) (PDF warning). There are no handle screws nor set screws that I can find, the faucet handle housing doesn't seem to give to being unscr...
Hi, I have a fairly new build (1yr old) that came with a 3 piece basement rough-in. I am in the process of finishing the basement and i would like/wanted to tackle doing the plumbing to save money and especially for the learning experience. Reading guides and posts online, it seems that every diagram depicts the toilet, shower and sink having a vent line to the waste vent, however, my basement rough-in doesn't seem to have any visible vent pipes for the toilet, shower, and sink. I've read that...
Here is a diagram of what's going on: https://imgur.com/a/04nipgB (Sorry I don't have any pictures. I can take some when I get home this evening) The shutoff valve for my backyard faucet is in my finished basement, under the bathroom sink. It's very annoying to have to run downstairs to shut it off after I use water in the backyard, because the faucet leaks so I can't leave it open. In fact I think the leak has caused water damage as there seems to be some mold developing on the back wall in t...

As a preface: I just bought my first house, and I'm learning a lot of this stuff as I go, so I apologize for my lack of knowledge. I'm currently installing interior drain tile in my basement. I figured while I have a bunch of concrete busted up, I might as well rough plumb a bathroom I plan on putting in down the road. Right now, I have my eyes set on the old coal room under our front porch. I only have to bust up a little more concrete to put in drain line for the bathroom fixtur...
Hello all, I am planning on buying and installing a CatGenie inside my fifth wheel RV. It is essentially a cat toilet that washes and retains the litter, liquefies the waste, and rinses that liquid waste down the drain. Here is a diagram of the unit: https://i.imgur.com/NKdBXnL.png Typically, these are installed in bathrooms with the drain running to the toilet or in laundry rooms with the drain connected to washing machine drain. However, this is not possible in our RV due to the space const...
We moved into our first house in October. I have lived in rentals my entire adult life. The house was built in 1950. We had a home inspection done, but plumbing wasn't really featured in the report. The guy tested all the faucets, but I think that was the extent of his inquiry. Fast forward to negative degrees below cold, everything freezes all the time. I'm in Northern Virginia, and it is about 10°F right now. I just got done crawling around in the nasty crawl space with a heat gun for the ele...
Just moved into a house a couple weeks ago in western Michigan, and one of the multitudinous problems we are encountering is this: When you turn the shower on, the sink sometimes bubbles up sewer-smelling gas for a few seconds. It stops quickly, but it smells gross and seems like it could be indicative of a larger problem. [Here are some images of the problem plumbing](http://imgur.com/a/EMxxb). The first shows the bathroom; large tub/shower combo, toilet, and sink. Simple stuff. The second...

Metal countertops Is marble good choice for countertops? Marble is an old choice for countertops and a classic that's versatile enough to look good in all types of kitchens. However, it is not without its drawbacks: marble is a natural product that is sensitive to stains, scratches and damage, which acquires a patina with use. What is the best thickness for a kitchen countertop?Usually the ...
